Technical overview

You will need an iPad, preferably the latest version. To obtain your iPad:

1. Procure your iPad, we recommend iPad 32 Giga (Wifi & 3G)

2. Download Coswin+Mtv

• When you have your iPad you will note that you are automatically connected to the Apps Store, the place where you can download the Coswin+Mtv application
• Go to the Apps Store, insert Coswin+Mtv into the search button and download the application, it takes just a few minutes

3. Start!

For Mtv to work on Coswin you need:

1. Version Coswin 7.4 or later
2. The Coswin+Mtv Server (order here)
3. An iPad and the Coswin+Mtv iPad program, downloadable free from Apple Apps Store (from your iPad)
4. Coswin BI (delivered with Coswin, required to be implemented)

The costs are:

• If you do not know Coswin BI and have not installed it we recommend at least one day of implementation/ consulting

You will therefore spend between €1000 (if you already have an iPad) and €2600 (if you take consulting). Yes, it is worth it!

Paybacks:

Naturally, costs and savings will differ but here is our thinking.

• With Coswin+Mtv you start using new ways of mobile computing, it is the future. Tablets and smartphones are fast becoming the dominant portable device (see Why you should buy) This is by far the most important justification.
• You will always be on top of your workload. You get alarms when on the move, think of how many incidents or even crises you can avoid.

How does the license work?

After receiving your order Siveco will generate a license according to your master Coswin license.

• Coswin+Mtv does not “consume” or use up a concurrent license.
• The Coswin+Mtv license is integrated into the Coswin license.
• It is like an “extra” input to the main Coswin license.

What does it cost to have a second license?

We charge the same amount for a second license, if you want multiple licenses, more than 2, request a quotation

How long does a license last?

It is a perpetual license as per your Coswin license, it has the same terms as your Coswin license.

How does the Coswin+Mtv software work?

For the system to work, you need two pieces of software:

1. The client software on the iPad, this is obtained by downloading from the Apple Apps Store, it is free and automatic, once you have clicked on the relevant download icon.
2. The Coswin+Mtv server that will be installed on your present server (apart from the iPad no extra hardware is required).

Can we install the Coswin+Mtv ourselves?

Yes, but only if you have some experience into installing Coswin (the install procedure is very similar) as well into configuring Coswin BI (that is used to generate the reports that are used by Coswin+Mtv). We will place the installation kit on the Siveco Technical Support site the license that you can then download yourself. You will receive full instructions.

Can a consultant install the license for us?

Yes, we recommend that for the more complex Coswin installations or in the case of lack of experience into configuring Coswin BI.

How long does it take?

For a simple Coswin configuration it is quick and easy:

• The iPad software installation just takes a few minutes.
• For the Coswin+Mtv Server, download the installation kit from our website.
• Un-zip the files and they will self-install on the server
• The above process creates the Coswin+Mtv Server:
  • Run the database scripts that are creating the data structures needed by Coswin+Mtv.
  • The Reports now have to be linked to the Coswin+Mtv Server. This is done using the Coswin BI server.
  • On the Ipad you now have to type a simple Server address to make the connection to the Server. Use your usual Coswin user and password.

What do we need on the Coswin+Mtv Server?

You have to install the Coswin+Mtv server including the database components and configure (if is not already done) the Coswin BI component.

What the other requirements?

There are no other requirements. The only new hardware you need to supply is the iPad.

What is the Support for the system?

You can call Support for any problems of installation or operation. But Coswin+Mtv is really a very simple and intuitive program to use.

Do we have to pay for maintenance?

No, the program is free of maintenance costs for all users covered by a Coswin maintenance contract.

What is the security on the program?

Access to the Coswin reports is secured by the profile of the Coswin user. In other words, the rights and access of the Coswin+Mtv user is subordinated to the Coswin security system. Every user sees only the indicators that he has access to and only the reports that have been associated to his account using Coswin BI.

If an iPad fell into the wrong hands, could someone use it to enter the Coswin system?

There are several layers of security:

• The iPad can be protected with a local login and the data encrypted.
• Access to the Coswin+Mtv program is protected by a login.
• Even if someone could get past these passwords he could only consult the reports that had been prepared for the iPad.

Do you offer training?

The Coswin+Mtv program is very intuitive but the consultant who installs it on your site will be able to show you how it works. Otherwise visit our site for instruction.

Are you going to offer this program exclusively on the iPad?

No, we are extending the program to work on the iPhone later in the year and other tablets as they become popular.

What other tablets are you going to support?

It all depends on what the market wants. Our perspective is: the tablet market has been around for over 15 years but it was an insignificant and highly specialised market. The situation changed completely in March 2010 (June 2010 in Europe) by the introduction of the iPad by Apple. The iPad is very much easier to use than any previous Windows or Linux based mobile computer. It has had remarkable success and the most unexpected success has been in the business market.

It will take time for competitors to challenge the iPad. Success means co-ordinating many factors and creating real momentum: creating an outstanding operating system, encouraging development of applications from third parties, good hardware, wide distribution etc. As of April 2011 we do not see any real challenger to the iPad. Yes, there are other tablets on Android, Windows and other operating systems but the total revenues of all those competitors probably does not add up to 10% of the iPad sales. When good competitors emerge we will support them.
